Party like a Rockstar

Sturm und Drang – Pressa, Helsinki; May 31st, 2013

On the latest trip to Helsinki my friends C., B. and I stayed at the Sokos Hotel Presidentti. On Friday we decided to check out if there was anyone interesting playing at the Pressa, the hotel’s nightclub. “Sturm und Drang” we read. B. and I had heard the name before, C. even knew a few songs and since tickets were cheap we decided to give it a go.

Checked the club before 11, but it was empty, so we returned later, still in good time for a midnight show. Most people didn’t arrive until shortly before it started and the club remained quite empty still. A handful of fans filled the front row, but everyone else hung back. We had a good view of the stage from the sidelines.

The band came out and rocked the place. The melodies were captivating and they seemed to have fun on stage too. Young in years, but already with considerable experience they put on a great rock show, poses and all. I loved the music, the songs had all the right ingredients: melodies to get hooked on and choruses to sing along to. 🙂

The audience sang and clapped along, some even air guitared and for a bit over an hour, Sturm und Drang performed in high gear. They had to work to take over the audience, but they did it well. Even minor technical problem did not keep them from rocking. Overall it was highly entertaining and very relaxed. We all agreed that it had been worth seeing. 🙂
